Banana Commercialization and Agricultural Diversification in St. Lucia
The AGIL project is aimed to assist with the development of rural communities in the Carribean island of St. Lucia by undertaking a set of initiatives related to human resource development and training. The set of actions envisaged as part of this project include consultancy, training workshops and seminars on the one hand, complemented by coaching within businesses as well as a business-friendly system of advice on the other hand, which caters for the needs of small enterprises and the realities of small farmers.
Ultimately, the action proposed will positively reflect on St. Lucia's ability to become more competitive in the global environment. The goal of combining banana commercialisation with agricultural diversification in line with the principles of sustainable development may lead to both improved agricultural practice and enhancement of competitiveness.
