Our International Bachelor's programme »Information Engineering« in English connects computer science with information technology. The objectives of the programme are to:
- introduce students to the fields of information and communication
- help students acquire a solid knowledge of hardware and software development
- show students how to create solutions that are technically workable and economically sound
Examples of some of the courses are:
- Electrical Engineering Applications
Information and communication systems are software based and work on application specific hardware. Computer architecture as well as micro controllers are introduced in two courses. An additional course will offer the design and the implementation of application specific digital systems and the corresponding hardware description language VHDL. - Software Construction
This course introduces the procedure-oriented programming language C and the object-oriented programming language C++. Additional topics are algorithms and data structures. - Computer Science
This course is based on the course »software construction« and contains methods and procedures to design complex software systems and is completed with modern concepts of databases. At the end there is a software engineering project, where students have to apply their knowledge in small groups and solve a small task independently. - Computer Engineering
Part of this course is a project on designing and realizing a digital system. The foundation of this project are electrical engineering applications. A further course deals with bus systems and sensors, which are widespread in the field of automation engineering. - Information Engineering
Processing and transmission of information is very important. This course offers the basis of digital signal transmission and signal processing.
The whole degree programme is in English. International guest students can choose modules from different semesters and put together their own semester programme. Students coming for the winter semester (Sept. - Feb.) can choose from the semesters 1 & 3; students coming in the summer semester (March - July) can choose from the semesters 2, 4 & 6. See the Module handbook and study plan for more information.
- Application deadlines:
Winter semester: 30. April
Summer semester: 30. October
