Digital Information Services - International Guest Students

The Department of Information at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences offers programmes in »Library & Information Services« as well as »Media & Information«. Each summer semester (March - July) the Department offers international guest students the opportunity to take modules in English on subjects in library and information sciences.

In the summer semester 2010 (March - July 2010) the semester programme will be »Digital Information Services« with five modules:

• Aspects of Information Technology
• Aspects of Knowledge Organisation - Visual Resources Management
• Aspects of Knowledge Organisation - Web Usability and Accessibility
• Aspects of Information Services in the European Union
• Workshop »Intercultural Communication«

Students will look at the aspects that are to be considered when setting up a digital information service. They will:

• explore examples of current best practice
• get to know indicators of quality in order to be able to identify bench marks for such services
• engage in practical exercises evaluating and writing reports on digital information services
• critically reflect the information policy of the European Union

The modules in this programme are in English and are each worth 6 ECTS. More information about the content of the modules can be found in the module handbook.
