What is a Studienkolleg?

If your foreign university entrance qualifications are not sufficient to allow you to study immediately, you have the possibility to take an aptitude test [Feststellungsprüfung]. With this qualification you can apply for a place in a degree programme.

 

Generally, you can apply for a one-year course at a Studienkolleg to prepare for the aptitude test. At the Studienkolleg you should choose a course that prepares you for the degree programme you intend to study:

 

T-course: for the degree programmes Architecture, Construction, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Mineralogy, Wood Science

W-course: for the degree programmes Economics and Business Administration, Law and Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Psychology

M-course: for the degree programmes Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Psychology, Sport, Forestry and Agricultural Sciences, Anthropology

G-course: for the degree programmes German, History, Art, Philosophy, Legal Studies, Education and Politics, Theology, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Geography

 

  • How and when can I apply?

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences does not have its own Studienkolleg. In the North of Germany there is the Studienkolleg at Hamburg University or at Kiel University of Applied Sciences. We accept however, certificates from all German Studienkollegs.

 

There are two application dates:

- up to 30. September [lessons start 1. January of the following year]

- up to 31. März [lessons start 1. August]
