How do I apply to the HAW Hamburg?

• Application deadlines

The academic year is split into two semesters and for most of the degree courses offered you can apply to start in the winter or the summer semester. For exceptions see the links "undergraduate programmes" and "postgraduate programmes".

• Bachelor Programmes:

Winter semester: Sept. - Feb. Application period: 1. June - 15. July

Summer semester: March - July Application period: 1. Dec. - 15. January

• Master Programmes:

Winter semester: Sept. - Feb. Application period: 1. April - 15. July

Summer semester: March - July Application period:1. December - 15. January

 

15. July and 15. January are application deadlines; applications received after these dates will not be processed.

 

Exception: Public Health (Master):

1. April - 30. September

 

• How do I apply?

The HAW Hamburg application form is available only during the application periods - a link will be put on the website of the university. Please use only the application form of our university. Please do not use the DAAD standard application form, as important information for the application is missing.

Master Programmes

Applicants for Master programmes and the Bachelor programme »Information Engineering« apply online during the application periods. Please remember to print out the completed application and send it together with the university certificates and language certificates and other papers that are required for the application.

 

Together with the HAW Hamburg application form and officially authenticated copies of your secondary school/university certificates together with authenticated translations (if the certificates are not in German, English or French), please send also the following documents to the Admissions Office:

 

- resumé

- statement of motivation regarding your choice of degree programme

- certified copy of your language certificates (for German or English)

- copies of reference letters for internships

- transcripts of records of previous study periods at German universities

 

Outside the application periods you can send officially authenticated copies of your secondary school/university certificates together with authenticated translations to the Admissions Office, so that they can inform you what degree programmes you can study. You will receive a document certifiying your qualifications.

This service is offered all year round, not just in the application periods. It is NOT an application to the HAW Hamburg.
