The Research and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences“ is managed by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Walter Leal. Professor Leal has extensive practical experience concerning the management of transnational projects (mainly in the North and the Baltic Sea regions) and is involved in numerous national and international programmes, for instance ALFA, EuropeAID, COMENIUS, LEONARDO, INTERREG and ESF. A team of highly qualified scientific staff members supports the implementation of the projects and the organisation of the events.

Prof. Walter Leal, Head of the Research and Transfer Centre Applications of Life Sciences, has been working in the field of Environmental Management since 1987. He deals with the topics General Life Sciences, Environmental Management, Innovation, Sustainable Development (incl. Energy, Climate Protection).

Since 1999 Julia Gottwald (Dipl.-Ing./ MSc.) coodinates local, national and international projects and cooperations. The focus of her former and current project are sustainable education, ressource efficient building design, innovation and regional development.

Franziska Mannke (MBA, BSc., B.A. int.) has been coordinating EU projects on a national and an international level since 2005. She is currently working with the topics Climate Change, Renewable Energies, Innovation and Sustainability as well as development economics and food science related topics.

Since 2004, certified geographer Kathrin Rath is consultant for national and EU funded R+D projects as well as projects in the field of environmental and regional policy. The main focus of her work is advisory services regarding European project applications and financial management.
