Semester fees
Semester contribution
All students have to pay a semester contribution. It is made up of the following items (from summer semester 2012):

| HAW Hamburg administration fee | 50 Euro |
| Students' Union (AStA) | 18.50 Euro |
| Students Hardship Fund | 4.50 Euro |
| Total | 298.90 Euro |
The semester ticket is a public transport ticket, which allows students unlimited travel on Hamburg's public transport system of underground trains and buses.

Tuition fees
In addition to the semester contribution, students also have to pay tuition fees. At present these are 375 Euro per semester. From winter semester 2012/13 it is planned to abolish the 375 Euro fees.
Exceptions:
Master of Public Health (2,400 Euro/semester)
MBA Social & Health Management (1,180 Euro/semester)
Deferral of tuition fees (Stundung)
International degree-seeking students under the age of 45 can apply for a deferral of their tuition fees. The tuition fees are due a year after the successful completion of the degree programme.
This application must be made every semester and students must provide proof of their academic status. They must have good grades and study within the framework of their degree programme plus a maximum of two semesters.
