Certificates and administrative processes
(Updated: 24 March 2023) Where can I get my transcripts or certificates of my exam results?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The Faculty Service Offices at HAW Hamburg currently only have limited access to transcripts and related information.
Due to the large number of email requests at the moment, it is currently taking longer than usual to process student inquiries and requests.
If you need an important or urgent matter addressed, please contact us by phone. We ask that you refrain from making inquiries about the status of your request. Thank you for your understanding!
Contact information for each Faculty Service Office is available on the respective faculty page:

(Updated: 15 March 2023) Are myHAW and other online services functioning again?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Students can now use their new HAW account (w...123@haw-hamburg.de) to sign into myHAW via myhaw.haw.tuhh.de.
On the myHAW home page you will see a red button that says 'Login für Studierende' Please use this. You can sign in there with your new HAW user ID. Please note that the servers are not set up to allow all students to access the system at the same time, so there may be delays when you log in.
Limited use of myHAW
In addition to the access code for the energy-costs subsidy, you can also find your enrolment and BAföG (student financial aid) certificates on myHAW. It is also possible to change your address and submit leave and deregistration requests.
It is not currently possible to view your grades or to register for courses via myHAW.
If you have only recently applied and do not yet have a HAW account, please continue to use the button at the top right side of the web page – for example, to download your letter of acceptance. Please note that you need to be enrolled as a student in order to download certificates and applications following login to your HAW account. First-semester students are not entitled to receive the energy-costs subsidy.
Additional information about online services that are now available again
(Updated: 15 March 2023) How can I obtain the access code for the energy-costs subsidy?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Students can now use their new HAW user ID (w...123@haw-hamburg.de) to sign into myHAW via myhaw.haw.tuhh.de and obtain the access code for the energy-costs subsidy.
Detailed information about the energy-costs subsidy is available here.
A PIN has been sent to all students separately by post.
(Updated: 15 March 2023) I need a certificate of withdrawal. What should I do?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
If you have decided to withdraw from your studies at HAW Hamburg, you can now submit an application to withdraw in myHAW (see the menu item 'Änderung von Daten/Anträge).
Please apply in writing to withdraw. The application needs to include your first and last names, your address, your student number and the date that you would like to be deregistered. We would also appreciate it if you could provide your reason for withdrawing. You can submit the application by post (Studierendensekretariat, Stiftstraße 69, 20099 Hamburg), via the Student Admissions and Registration Office mailbox in the Stiftstraße building, or in person at the Info Point (Infothek) during its opening hours.
You will then receive your certificate by post.
(Updated: 15 March 2023) I need a certificate for the BAföG (student financial aid) ageny. How can I get this?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Students can now log in to myHAW at myhaw.haw.tuhh.de with their new HAW account (w...123@haw-hamburg.de). You can then download your BAföG certificate from myHAW.
(Updated: 8 March 2023) Can I still use my student ID card (chip card) – for example, in the libraries? What about my semester ticket for HVV (public transport)?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Since 2009, HAW Hamburg has provided its students with a multifunctional chip card that serves as their student ID, among other things. With the exception of the HVV semester ticket function for the public transport system, this card can still be used – for example, as a library card, for cashless payment in the cafeterias (Studierendenwerk Hamburg) and to access rooms on the HAW Hamburg campus that are locked electronically.
At the moment it is not possible to validate the card using the automatic validation stations, which is why all students have been sent their HVV semester ticket by post, together with their enrolment certificate. If you have not received your ticket by mail, you should go to the Information Point (Infothek) at Stiftstraße 69:
Monday and Thursday: 10:00 am–1:00 pm
Tuesday: 10:00 am–1:00 pm and 2:00 pm–3:00 pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am–11:00 am and 12:00 pm–1:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am–12:00 pm
First-semester students have also been sent their HVV semester ticket and their certificate of enrolment by post. They can also contact the Information Point in the event of problems.
Chip cards cannot be issued at the current time. To use the library services, you can apply for a library card.
(Updated: 20 February 2023) Why do I need to use two-step verification?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Students and employees can now sign in with their new user ID and password and set up two-step verification at www.office.com. The new HAW account (w...123@haw-hamburg.de) also works for various other online services: Übergangsmoodle, myHAW (for students) and the Adobe licence.
Additional information about the HAW account, two-step verification, and the user ID and password
(Updated: 17 February 2023) What is the status of my HAW account and my email address?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
With their former HAW accounts (e.g. aba123), HAW Hamburg students and employees could log in to numerous online services. Due to the cyber-attack in December 2022, this is no longer possible.
Students and employees have been issued a new user ID (w...123@haw-hamburg.de) for MS Office 365 and MS Teams, which is gradually being activated for other services as well. The account also provides you with an email account: first name.last name@haw-hamburg.de
Students and employees can now sign in with their new user ID and password and set up two-step verification at www.office.com.
More information about the new HAW account and two-step verification

(Updated: 10 February 2023, 12:00 pm) Are the libraries open?
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The various libraries are open during the periods listed on the HAW Hamburg website. You can work in the libraries and use the print materials on site. Items can be returned in all of the libraries; however, there may still be delays in booking them back in properly. Fees for overdue items will not be charged. It is now possible to borrow items in all of the libraries except for the Business, Engineering and Computer Science library 1 (TWI 1). Borrowing is currently only open to HAW Hamburg members and during service-desk hours.
Borrowing in the the Business, Engineering and Computer Science library 1 (TWI)
Borrowing will be possible in the TWI 1 library during the week of 13–17 February from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. After this week that collection will be moved to the TWI 2 library and will be available there from 6 March 2023.
Both TWI libraries will be closed from 20 February to 3 March. During this time it will not be possible to access the collections. Borrowed items can be returned to the other libraries.
HAW Hamburg members can use e-media (e-books, e-journals and databases) in the library via the WLAN network.
The online catalogue is functioning, and it is possible to use open-access electronic media. It is possible to extend the borrowing period for items you already have on loan using your user account.
You can use your HAW Hamburg student card or employee card to obtain free-of-charge access to the libraries at all Hamburg universities (e.g. SUB, TUHH, etc.) and borrow print materials. It is possible to search for materials at these libraries using the Hamburg-wide catalogue.
