What are HAW Hamburg's strategic goals?
To strengthen its position as an expert on digitalisation issues and actively shape the digital and societal transformation, HAW Hamburg focuses on the following goals as part of its action areas:
Digitalisation in teaching, studies and professional development
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Developing and promoting skills for the digital work world and society
Graduates of Bachelor's degree courses and continuing education should be able to actively influence and respond to the current and future challenges of the digital transformation. For this reason, HAW Hamburg trains its students for a global and digitalised work and living environment, in line with the idea of open education. It anchors the acquisition of skills for the digital age and the investigation of digitalisation as a phenomenon (the 'what' dimension) in its curricula. It also utilises digitalisation to improve teaching and learning (the 'how' dimension). This takes place via digital teaching-learning scenarios, formats and tools. For this purpose, the existing support services will be maintained and the instructors' skills will be enhanced through personnel development measures. The intended curricular changes are an expression of quality development in teaching, study and assessment. They will be accompanied by evaluative quality assurance measures.
Digitalisation in research and transfer
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Increasing the interdisciplinary investigation of research questions on digitalisation and opening up research processes
HAW Hamburg aims to develop application-oriented solutions to the complex societal challenges of the digitalisation process. This is why it supports measures for the interdisciplinary investigation of research questions on digitalisation. In the interest of openness, the expansion and use of the corresponding digital research infrastructure (especially repositories and research information systems) are also being enhanced.
Internal processes and IT structures/services
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Creating the university-internal conditions necessary to strengthen students' and employees' abilities to shape the digital cultural transformation
HAW Hamburg's internal IT landscape will be reoriented and further developed in line with the internal and external demands and needs in the degree courses, teaching, research and professional development. In the digitalisation of administrative processes, priority will be given to internal university processes and customer-intensive administrative processes which affect both academic and administrative staff and for which there is a high level of demand. For the organisation of undergraduate studies and academic continuing education, digital student and application management as well as study information and advising will be further developed.
Dialogue, discourse and networking in the digital transformation
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Expanding the dialogue on the digital transformation at HAW Hamburg and with the public, and networking with partners from business, society and politics
As an active partner for dialogue and competence on digitalisation issues, the HAW Hamburg is establishing platforms for internal and public discussion of questions and issues regarding digitalisation. Existing activities and dialogue formats will be strengthened and made more visible, and new formats will be evaluated. To fulfil its responsibility as an actor in the Hamburg region, the university will support local and international collaborations and networks in the area of digitalisation. These activities will be supplemented by additional networking projects in Hamburg and beyond.
