4th European Fair on Education for Sustainable Development

Background

Not only since the UN-conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro took place in June 2012 the topic of sustainable development ranks high on the global agenda.

In 2014 the UN-decade of “Education for Sustainable Development” which generated manifold activities and projects in the field of sustainable development in the years from 2005 to 2014, came to an end. After its completion there still exists a growing demand for international cooperation and initiatives.

As a subsequent agenda to the UN-decade the UNESCO now proclaimed the Global Action Program on “Education for Sustainable Development” for the years 2015 to 2019. A roadmap was published as a schedule that clarifies the aims, facilitates the strategic focus and stimulates engagement in the program.

For this reason the Research and Transfer Centre "Sustainability and Climate Change Management" (FTZ-NK) of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) organizes from 9 - to 11 September 2015 the sustainability fair European Fair on Education for Sustainable Development - „Implementing Sustainable Development in European Cities and Regions“.

Thematically, the event will focus on a wide range of areas, which include (but are not limited to) Education for Sustainable Development initiatives surrounding themes such as renewable energy and energy efficiency, sustainable water management and use, sustainable transport and climate change.
