European Seminar on Intellectual Property in Education and Innovations

15-18 June 2010 , Moscow, Russia

The main objectives of Intellectual Property (IP) are to stimulate the development of new technologies and defence of intellectual rights of their ownerships. In doing so, IP may accelerate the diffusion of new technologies throughout the economy, increase the efficiency of technology transfer from research to commercial use, and to ensure EU countries are able to keep up with the place of international technology developments. Thus, strengthening IP systems in Europe is vital in order to ensure its long-term competitiveness.

However, there are some needs that need to be met so as to allow European countries to fully capitalize on the potential of IP. One of them – which is also a matter of major concern- is the need to raise awareness about IP among businesses. It is on the basis of the need to address this problem that this Seminar is being proposed.
