HOOU Online Project "CliMap-HEALTH"

Since August 2019: the project "CliMap-HEALTH" is carried out within the framework of the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU).

The consequences of climate change are felt worldwide and represent a serious threat. Future players in health care, research and public management therefore bear an enormous responsibility to maintain our health long term through effective measures. Without the necessary knowledge about the health-related, and also social consequences of climate change, which is insufficiently communicated in higher education, this complex task cannot be mastered.

This is where the e-learning tool CliMap-HEALTH comes in. This tool aims to impart technical and practical knowledge about the effects of climate and environment on our health in the format of an interactive world map. With this project, HAW is setting an important signal to address climate change as an interdisciplinary challenge in the training of future actors. The web tool CliMap-HEALTH will be available as an open, modifiable teaching-learning tool.

The CliMap-HEALTH teaching-learning tool primarily addresses students of health sciences and public health in the context of tertiary education. The content, which is prepared as a web application, is delivered to students via teachers at universities and universities of applied sciences. For this purpose, the learning tool can be flexibly and individually embedded in existing teaching concepts, and can extend basic modules (e.g. climate as a determinant of health), as well as meaningfully supplement applied modules (e.g. transdisciplinary adaptation strategies to climate change).
