4:00–5:00 pm: A study abroad semester in the United Kingdom
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The United Kingdom is one of the most popular destinations for a study abroad semester. The question at the moment is how these exchanges will work following Brexit. The good news is this: The withdrawal agreement of 31 January 2020 stipulates that the United Kingdom will continue to participate in the current generation of Erasmus+ programmes (2014–2020). This means that an Erasmus-funded study semester in the UK in the 2021/22 academic year is still possible!
Alan Russell, Erasmus administrator (Kingston School of Art), and Maia Sule, international placement and study abroad officer (Leeds Trinity University), will answer your questions about studying in the United Kingdom in general and at the two partner universities in particular.
Jenny Kahler, student exchange coordinator in the Faculty of Design, Media and Information, will provide information on exchange-related questions that have to do particularly with the faculty.
The event will take place in English.

10:00 am–4:00 pm: Intercultural training
................................................................................................................................................................................................
Intercultural competence has become a widely used term and something many employers expect of employees. This 'special skill' also plays an important role in the university context and in most students' everyday life. But what does it really mean to be interculturally competent?
To address this question, the International Office runs various intercultural training and anti-discrimination training sessions. In these courses, participants are given the opportunity to think about their own cultural identity and how it affects their values, behaviour and ways of thinking about things. They also share their experiences with others. Interactive exercises help participants critique their perceptions and assumptions and learn to look at situations from a different point of view. After the course, participants are better able to actively engage in intercultural situations and speak out against discrimination.
The training takes place over two days. Registration is required and can be completed via this page.
Netiquette
- Once you have joined the session, please turn your microphone off and only turn it on when speaking.
