University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST)

The University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) emerged out of the University of Shanghai (Shanghai College and Hujiang University) and the German Medical School for Chinese Students, which were founded in 1906 and 1907 respectively. It has six locations in Shanghai and approximately 24,000 students, 17,000 of whom are undergraduate students and 7,500 of whom are graduate students in broad-based technical degree courses. It consists of 15 so-called schools, two departments of education, 56 undergraduate degree courses, eight disciplines that lead to doctoral titles, four post-doc research facilities, 17 Master's courses and 11 so-called professional Master's courses.

More than 1,000 international students are currently enrolled at USST, and 500 of them aim to obtain a degree qualification. The USST has more than 120 partner universities in over 20 countries. The Sino-British College and the Shanghai-Hamburg College are special facilities at USST. The Shanghai International Cultural Park is home to a German Centre for Cultural Exchange, which opened in 2011.
