Project summary:
The fact that nature in Ukraine is under pressure means that there is a great need for research. Not only to investigate the effects of the war, but also to support the development of an action plan with concrete measures for the restoration of Ukrainian biomes after military operations, in particular the associated waste and contamination.
The main objective of UASustain is:
To develop a consortium that will be able to propose and test solutions for sustainable ecosystem management and soil restoration in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, with a specific focus on the impacts from the war.
To achieve this objective, the project adopts a multi-layered strategy:
- Research Phase: Identify suitable Horizon Europe funding calls and map stakeholders from science and industry in nature-based restoration, profiling Ukrainian and EU experts as potential consortium members.
- Partner Engagement: Select and involve partners based on research topics to prepare joint applications.
- Application Development: Develop and submit the Horizon Europe proposal.
- Networking: Strengthen German-Ukrainian collaboration through workshops and regular meetings throughout the process.
