Standards

DIN standards

DIN standards are established by the German Institute for Standardization and include rules, guidelines and standards that apply to various areas of business and public life.

Access the DIN standards online

Accessing the standards from the libraries

All library users can access the DIN standards from the HAW libraries and read full-text versions online. You can find the DIN standards database on the libraries' catalogue computers under the tab 'Perinorm-Anwendung' (Using Perinorm). On the libraries' Internet and Office computers you can find it under the 'DIN Normen' (DIN standards) icon on the desktop.

Accessing the standards remotely

All HAW students, instructors and staff can access the DIN standards from outside the HAW libraries.

Technical requirements

You will need to be connected to the Internet via the HAW Hamburg academic network or log in to the academic network via the VPN connection.
More information about VPN access.

Please note! Unfortunately, HAW Hamburg employees who use the HAW Hamburg administrative network (FHH-Netz) are not able to access the DIN standards from their work computers because of the Dataport security settings. Access via the VPN connection is also not possible.

Association of German Engineers (VDI) guidelines

Since January 2013, the HAW University Information and Library Service has also had access to the guidelines of the German Association of Engineers (VDI). You can view these guidelines online via the DIN standards database.

VDE standards

The DIN-VDE standards are not accessible via the electronic DIN standards database.

Accessing the VDE standards

You can access the VDE standards from all of the Internet computers in the HAW Hamburg libraries.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to print, copy, save or send the VDE standards.

VDE standards - remote access

New! It is now possible for all HAW Hamburg students, instructors and staff to access the VDE standards from outside the HAW libraries!

Technical requirements

You will need to be connected to the Internet via the HAW Hamburg academic network or log in to the academic network via the VPN connection.
More information about VPN access.

Please note! It is not possible to access the standards from the HAW Hamburg administrative network (FHH-Netz), even via a VPN connection.
