So far accompanying papers, bill of ladings and customs documents of transport and logistics companies are transferred via mail, email, cload or freight exchanges. These forms lack protection against forgery and often are prone to errors due to multiple softwares used. The HANSEBLOC project aims to develope sustainable solutions for this problem with the help of blockchain technologies.

The University of Applied Sciences Hamburg developed the concept "sensorchain", which allows a secure storage and transmission of data from sensors via bluetooth in a self-building blockchain. The manipulation of sensors, e.g. to avoid the costly cooling of products, is hampered significantly. The sensorchain serves as a secure and reliable data source for each blockchain and proves to have many applications.

The HANSEBLOC plattform is going to build the foundation for logistic companies, as it documents the transport of goods identitiy-protected. For other service providers it will be possible to develope applications for the HANSEBLOC plattform to expand its functionalities. For example transports can be insured automatically and easily via the plattform with the help of insurance providers.
