Working for people

We are active for and with people. We work preventively and supportively at the interface between individuals and their environment. We advocate for dignified living conditions and intervene to address social problems in precarious situations. We support independent, active participation in societal life – together with the people involved.

The Department of Social Work is part of HAW Hamburg's Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. Its Social Work and Education and Learning in Childhood Bachelor's degree courses offer practice-oriented studies with an academic foundation.

The continuing professional education Master's degree courses (Master of Social Work, MBA), which enable graduates to take on management positions or undertake independent academic work within organisations, universities and social work facilities as well as with families and children, round off the course selection.
