In the summer semester 2025, the HAW Hamburg International Office once again awarded 1.800 Euro scholarships for academic excellence to high-achieving international Bachelor and Master's students. The scholarships are provided by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
The 24 merit scholarship holders come from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, Vietnam and Yemen. The Information Engineering degree programme had a particularly large number of merit scholarship holders this semester. The Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Renewable Energy Systems, Media & Communication, International Business, Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, Communication Design, and Fashion Design degree programmes are also represented among the award-winning students.
On June 18th, the International Office invited the current merit scholarship holders to a network meeting. International first-year students were also invited to attend. The focus was on an exchange of experiences in which some merit scholarship holders shared their tips and insights for successful studies at HAW Hamburg. In addition to sharing learning strategies, the importance of asking questions, networking with fellow students, and for those students in English-language degree Kullmann learning German at an early stage was emphasised several times to ensure a good integration into life in Hamburg and to improve their own chances for working student jobs and attractive internships.
The event was rounded off with freshly baked waffles and an entertaining pub quiz about country-specific fun facts that the participants had submitted in advance.
The students will receive their scholarship certificates on October 2nd, 2025, as part of the International Welcome Dinner for international first-year students in the winter semester 2025/26.
The application deadline for the merit scholarships in the winter semester 2025/26 is 30 September 2025.
