Empowering Sustainability Through Communication
Communication is one of the key elements which need to be deployed, in order to pursue sustainable development. It is also essential component of sustainability initiatives in both, formal and non-formal education. There is a perceived need to discuss approaches, methods and tools via which sustainability issues may be communicated across various audiences.
It is against this background that the “World Symposium of Sustainability Communication” (WSSC 2024) is being organized. The Symposium aims to provide a platform for researchers and educators engaged with sustainability communication, to exchange their knowledge and perspectives through a face-to-face symposium at the School of Communication, Universiti Sains Malaysia. As a follow-up to the World Symposium of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Centres held in June 2023 at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany the event also aims to offer a valuable platform among sustainability communication researchers from the America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East region to enhance their networks. The theme of the symposium is "Empowering Sustainability Through Communication", which reflects the intention to offering participants to showcase how they are using communication to showcase their sustainability works.
WSSC 2024 has three primary objectives as follows:
- To provide a platform for researchers in the field of sustainability communication to present their works.
- To provide a venue for researchers to publish their works in Scopus-indexed books.
- To offer an opportunity for researchers to network and establish future collaboration with scholars working with sustainability communication.
