HAW Hamburg

The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science is our largest faculty with over forty percent of our students enrolled here. The four departments that make up this faculty cover a wide range of fields:

Automotive & Aeronautical Engineering

Study majors include automotive design, aircraft design, lightweight structures and cabin systems. Close cooperation with the automotive industry and the immediate vicinity of Hamburg's aircraft production site (AIRBUS) - the third largest in the world - guarantee practice-oriented and state-of-the-art degree programmes with excellent career possibilities. Computer Science

HAW Hamburg has an excellent reputation in information technology and ranks among the top German universities for computer science programmes (CHE ranking). Programmes are project-based allowing students to combine theory and practice during their studies. Research focuses on ambient intelligence, virtual reality and robotics. German website

Information and Electrical Engineering

Study majors focus on communication, automation and information technologies. Lab work and placements in industry ensure the application of theory and help students to work independently with course material. An undergraduate programme in English and a Joint College with a partner university in Shanghai underline the department's international outlook. German website

Mechanical Engineering & Production

Studies link the fields of engineering and management and contain core areas of mechanical engineering such as construction, design and manufacturing as well as the optimisation of processes. A flexible building block system of modules enables students to choose an individual study focus. German website
