Choosing a Bachelor's degree

If you have questions about our degree programmes, you can always speak to a student advisor in our Student Counselling Office. You can phone, send an eMail or come to their open office hours (see times to the right) and have a chat with someone. An appointment is not necessary.

If you have a good level of German try our »Studienwahl-Navigator« to find a programme that matches your interests and the »HAW Navigator« to test the abilities required for that programme:

A. Studienwahl-Navigator - what should I study?

Step 1: Is studying at a university the right thing for me?
Step 2: What are my interests?
Step 3: Which HAW Hamburg degree programmes match my interests?

B. HAW Navigator - test yourself for your programme

Once you have chosen a Bachelor degree, you should complete the HAW Navigator self-test for your chosen programme. For almost every German-language Bachelor programme there is a self-test, which will give you an idea about the contents of the programme and career fields. It will also help you see if the degree programme is a good match to your academic abilities.

IMPORTANT for EU Applicants: If your chosen degree programme has a HAW Navigator self-test, then you must take it before you can apply online. It is an entry requirement. As the tests are not graded this will not influence your chances of getting a place at the HAW Hamburg. Link to the HAW Navigator

Continue here for more information about our entry requirements.

We apologize that the Studienwahl-Navigator is not also in English. We are unable to provide this service at present. Students applying for Information Engineering do not have to take the HAW-Navigator test.
