International "Lotse" - Help for Freshmen

In addition to the weBuddy programme the International Office at the HAW Hamburg offers the “International Lotse“ programme. A “Lotse“ in German is a pilot on a boat who guides large ships safely into the harbour. An international Lotse at the HAW Hamburg is a student from a higher semester who helps students with issues they might have at university or outside of the university.

Our "International Lotsen" can give you tips on how to find accommodation, help you with administration questions and give you an orientation when you have questions about the university. Most of all they help students, who arrive late due to a delay in getting their visa. You can arrange a personal meeting with them at Campus Berliner Tor or Bergedorf by writing to io_support(@)

Open Learning Room for Information Engineering

Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s programme "Information Engineering" can also get support in the open learning room. A tutor from a higher semester answers questions about maths, electrical engineering and software construction and help you prepare for the exams. You can find him on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. in Room 6.60 in Berliner Tor 7.
