Emergency Financial Aid

International degree-seeking students at the HAW Hamburg that are in an emergency financial situation can apply to one of the following emergency aid funds for help. Each fund has its own criteria, but in general they all ask to see a copy of your transcript of records and your bank statements. They are not able to offer regular financial support throughout your studies but instead are meant as one-off aid in a time of financial crisis:

VDFAS - Verein der Förderer

The VDFAS - Verein der Förderer Ausländischer Studierender is a university association that offers international students enrolled at the HAW Hamburg support in a financial crisis. They make one-off payments of a maximum of 380 Euro. Applications can be made a maximum of two times during the whole degree programme.
The International Office of the HAW Hamburg coordinates this work, so if you want to apply to the VDFAS you need to make an appointment for a counselling session. The International Office will supply you with an application form.
