Final Year Scholarships for international HAW Hamburg students

International students at the HAW Hamburg can apply for a scholarship when they are in their final year and only have to complete their final exams and Bachelor's or Master's thesis. You can apply for a DAAD-Scholarship at the HAW Hamburg International Office and for a City of Hamburg Scholarship at the Studierendenwerk Hamburg. We recommend that you apply for both to increase your chances of being awarded a scholarship.

The amount of the scholarship is based on the financial situation of the applicant. The maximum amount is calculated according to the current maximum BAföG rate.

Application requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to apply for the scholarship:

  • You are an international Bachelor or Master student at the HAW Hamburg.
  • You will be finishing your Bachelor studies within 12 months after applying for the scholarship. Master students may apply if they only need to complete their Master thesis.
  • You have good grades.
  • You are financing your studies on your own and can prove that you are in financial need.
  • You are not entitled to BAföG, i.e. you do not fulfil the requirements of § 8 of the Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz (BAföG) (If you are unsure please contact the BAföG Amt.
