CARPE – the Consortium on Applied Research and Professional Education

HAW Hamburg, HU Utrecht, Turku UAS, Universitat Polytècnica de València and the University of Debrecen: CARPE is the first European consortium of universities of applied sciences and a strategic alliance for applied research and professional education.

CARPE – the Consortium on Applied Research and Professional Education was launched in 2011 by Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Turku University of Applied Sciences and Universitat Politècnica de València. Since then, the network has been continuously developing: Manchester Metropolitan University was a member of the network from 2012 to June 2018. The University of Debrecen was accepted as a full member in November 2017.

All members are universities of applied sciences with a focus on their students’ future world of work. Research and education is demand-driven and contribute to innovation in industry. CARPE universities have strong links with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as with large companies, with local and regional governments and with the public sector. All embrace the themes of entrepreneurship, social responsibility, sustainability and internationalisation and excel in providing added value to the regions they belong to.

Globalisation is a strong trend that offers new opportunities and students at CARPE universities are prepared for the rapidly developing global world as the international perspective is an essential part of the educational and research programmes.  CARPE Website
