Digital Information & Media Culture - Exchange Students

With over 3,000 companies Hamburg is Germany's most important media centre and also the best place to experience the digital media revolution in Europe. It is home to the large publishing houses Axel Springer, Gruner & Jahr and ZEIT Verlag who produce nationally and internationally acclaimed newspapers and magazines as well as the NDR television studios who produce the national news.

Each summer semester (March - July) international exchange students can get an insight into the field of digital information and media culture by taking the following classes in English (30 ECTS)*:

Digital Information & Media Culture - semester programme in English

  • Digital Culture and Critical Theory
  • International Communication Systems
  • Knowledge Organization
  • Search Engine Technology and Search Engine Use*
  • Social Media and Innovation
  • Web Analytics+


* not in summer semester 2018  + in summer semester 2018 only

NOTE: These modules can change from one year to the next. When applying online please choose the degree programme »Media & Information«.

The classes in this programme are in English and are each worth 6 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). More information about the content of the classes can be found in the module handbook.
