Social Work and Early Education - Exchange Students

The Department of Social Work is located on our main campus Berliner Tor in St. Georg; a vivid, multi-cultural quarter in the heart of the City of Hamburg. With its 1.8 million inhabitants Hamburg is Germany's second largest city after Berlin and an international port. Living and studying in Hamburg therefore provides a wide range of insights into different cultures and lifestyles as well as into the social problems and their solutions in a modern urban community. 

The Department of Social Work offers the undergraduate programmes »Social Work« and »Education and Learning in Childhood«, preparing students for a diverse range of social occupations and work in early childhood education. They reflect the complexity of social work in a modern society. Each summer semester (March - July) exchange students can get an insight into this expertise and take courses in English. The following classes are offered in the summer semester:

NOTE: courses can change from one year to the next  * will not be offered in the summer semester 2018   ** block seminars

In addition, if capacity allows, exchange students can also take one or two classes in English at the Faculty of Life Sciences at the Hamburg-Bergedorf Campus. Classes open to Social Work guest students are: German Food & Culture, Public Health Nutrition, Project Management and Working in multicultural groups. Nutrition & Health module handbook.
