Public Health, Nutrition & Social Work

The College of Health & Human Services includes the School of Exercise & Nutritional Services, the Graduate School of Public Health, which also offers a Bachelor's programme in Public Health, and the School of Social Work. The Graduate School of Public Health (GSPH) was founded in 1980 as part of the university’s new focus on health and human services. One of four nationally accredited schools of public health in California, and located in one of the most vibrant and culturally diverse areas in the country, the GSPH provides many opportunities for education, research, and community involvement to advance the state of knowledge in different health disciplines and to improve the population’s health. The School of Exercise & Nutritional Services offers undergraduate degrees in kinesiology, athletic training, and foods and Nutrition. The School of Social Works focuses on gerontology, substance abuse, child welfare and mental health.

Note: These programmes are impacted; i.e. there is a greater demand for places than there are places available. It is important that you have the necessary prerequisites. Please ask the Student Exchange Advisor to contact SDSU for advice before applying.


Students can major in accounting, general business, finance, financial services, information systems, management, marketing, or real estate. Within management they can choose a specialization in entrepreneurship or human resources (in addition to general management). Within marketing students may elect to major in general marketing or complete the marketing major with a specialization in integrated marketing communications or a specialization in professional selling and sales management.
