Kurzbiografie

Katrin Wolf is a professor for Media Informatics at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Beforehand, she held a professorship at for Media Informatics at Berlin University of Art and Design, where she also was the Vice Dean of Research. Her research interests lie at the intersection of human–computer interaction and virtual reality, focusing on how to make novel technologies more usable and useful. In particular, she builds virtual reality applications and implements novel techniques to navigate and interact within them.

She received a German Diploma in Electronic Business from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2004 and a second German Diploma in Social and Economic Communications from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2007. For her dissertation, her research supported interaction with novel types of mobile devices and smart object through introducing, implementing and evaluating systems that can be controlled using microgestures. Katrin’s research interests include human-computer interaction, computer augmented environments She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Stuttgart from 2014-2015, where she worked in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab headed by Albrecht Schmidt. Her work experience includes research visits/internships at the HitLab (Christchurch, NZ), CSIRO (Sydney, AUS), Glasgow University (Glasgow, UK), and INRIA (Bordeaux, FR).

Katrin published in the most competitive conferences of her field including ACM CHI, ACM TEI and ACM MobileHCI. She is actively involved in the research community. Most notably, she is General Chair of the German conference on Mensch & Computer (MuC) 2019, WIP-Co-Chair of TEI 2018, Tutorial-Co-Chair of MobileHCI 2017, Studio-Co-Chair of TEI 2017 and Short Paper Co-Chair of MuC 2014.
