Tips for conserving energy

Everyone can contribute to conserving energy, both at home and at the university. Here are a few tips:

  • To keep the room temperature at a maximum of 19°C, the thermostat needs to be set between two and three.
  • When you leave the room, set the thermostat to the frost setting.
  • Close the doors to colder rooms
  • Air out the room completely for five to ten minutes on a regular basis instead of leaving the window partially open for a longer period of time.
  • When you leave the room or a corridor, turn off the light.
  • If you have table lamps or devices that you don't need, pull out the plug or use a power bar with an on/off switch.
  • Completely turn-off or unplug devices and appliances with a stand-by function.
  • Wash your hands with cold water.
  • Set your fridge to the lowest setting and regularly defrost the freezer.
