In order to develop and promote interdisciplinary and practice-oriented research at HAW Hamburg, the university is actively involved in various national and international research networks.

UAS7 – Seven Universities of Applied Sciences – Alliance for Excellence

UAS7 is an alliance of seven research-oriented applied sciences universities in Germany with a strong international focus.

TransferAllianz

The TransferAllianz is the German association for knowledge and technology transfer and brings together universities, national research institutions and transfer service providers in a nationwide network.

FHnet

FHnet is a network of universities of applied science that participate in the EU-Strategie-FH programme, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The network's goal is to develop and expand EU research at the partner universities as part of the research programme.

International

CARPE – Consortium on Applied Research and Professional Education

HAW Hamburg is a founding member of the CARPE Network, the first consortium of European universities of applied science. The network is a strategic alliance for applied research and professional education. It supports its members' internationalisation efforts.

EUA – European University Association

HAW Hamburg is a member of the European University Association (EUA), which represents more than 800 universities and national rectors’ conferences from European countries. The EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna Process and in influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation.

BUP – Baltic University Programme

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a network of over 225 universities and applied sciences universities in 14 countries in the Baltic Sea region. The programme's central issue areas are sustainable development, environmental protection and democracy in the Baltic Sea region. One goal of the network is the expansion and strengthening of international collaborative research.
