Research at the Faculty of Health: Science for Nursing, Care and Nutrition

Health, nursing and nutrition are among the most pressing challenges of our time. The Faculty of Health at HAW Hamburg brings together scientific expertise in these areas and specifically promotes research, teaching and innovation for a sustainable and resilient healthcare system.

Our research-intensive department addresses both subject-specific and interdisciplinary issues from the perspective of nursing practice and nursing science. The aim is to further develop nursing in the interests of patients and carers – in a practical, evidence-based and scientifically sound manner.

We respond to social developments such as demographic change, the increase in chronic and nutrition-related diseases, and the growing need for prevention, health literacy and sustainable care. Our research activities range from healthcare and public health to nutrition science and food safety.

A particular focus is on the development of innovative care solutions and sustainable structures for a healthy urban society. Our research is closely interlinked with teaching: students gain early access to the latest scientific findings and can actively participate in research projects.
