About us

With the new acoustics laboratory, we aim to strengthen the Hamburg metropolitan region as a center of excellence for technical acoustics through close collaboration with companies, partner universities, and research institutions as part of applied research — creating impact at the regional, national, and international levels.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gleine

The acoustics laboratory, opened in 2019, was designed according to the latest state of the art and therefore provides the opportunity to develop new technologies and innovations in the field of technical acoustics.

In this center for research and teaching, companies, researchers, and students can work together across disciplines on acoustic challenges to drive forward pioneering innovations.

  • Sound path analyses
  • Sound insulation measurements
  • Sound intensity measurements
  • Room acoustics measurements
  • Sound absorption coefficient measurements
  • Sound power measurements
  • Determination of structure-borne sound paths
  • Determination of directivity patterns
  • Aeroacoustic and electroacoustic measurements

The lab

The acoustics laboratory includes a reverberation chamber compliant with DIN EN ISO 354 and four semi-anechoic free-field rooms. Several office spaces, a workshop, and a measurement and analysis room also provide ample space for work in research and education.
