Part-time study
................................................................................................................................................................................................
The part-time course at the HAW Hamburg represents an individual extension of the original specialist course. It is not a separate offer with its own curriculum. This enables students to reduce the amount of time they study by up to half per semester. more information
For an individual part-time course, the course-specific examination and study regulations of the respective full-time courses apply. Two part-time study semesters are counted as one subject semester and two university semesters. The contact persons for individual study planning are the respective student advisors.

- Get an original medical certificate of incapacity for work (AU).
- Include your matriculation number and the exam name.
- Submit it to the Faculty Service Office.
- Deadline: within 1 working day after the AU ends.
If You Get Sick During an Exam:
- By signing in, you confirm you’re fit to take the exam.
- If you suddenly feel too ill to continue:
- Tell the examiner you’re stopping.
- Go to a doctor immediately.
- Get a certificate of examination incapacity (an AU alone is not enough).
- Email or write to your exam committee chair (PAV) right away.
- Submit the original certificate to the Faculty Service Office within 1 working day after it expires.
- The PAV decides if your interruption is valid.
Important: If you leave an exam without a valid reason, you’ll get a grade of “insufficient” (5.0) for that exam.
