World Symposium of Climate Change and Sustainable Development Centres

• to provide an opportunity  for climate change and  sustainable development centres from across the world to present their work, studies they are understanding, as well as research and practical projects which may contribute to the implementation of climate change and  sustainable development as a whole, and the UN SDGs in particular, and in pursuing sustainable future scenarios;
• to  identify, document and disseminate ideas, experiences and visions from science managers and educators,  on how to foster the cause of sustainable development in a more systematic way.

As an output of the event, the book "Fostering Sustainable Development in Practice" will be produced with all accepted papers. This will be published by Springer, as part of the world´s leading, peer-reviewed book series on sustainable development: https://www.springer.com/series/13384 
The series is indexed in Scopus and because it is peer-reviewed, the accepted papers usually count for promotion and tenure purposes.

This unique event is a very nice opportunity to bring managers and staff from climate change and sustainability centres together, discuss how research-intensive and how practice-oriented their operations are, and to promote their work to a world audience.

The event will be of special interest to those colleagues who act as directors of climate change and  sustainability centres, those who have management responsibilities, as well as senior staff at these centres, who are responsible for their operations.

We are now calling for abstracts, which consist of a 200 words outline of a paper and/or presentation, along with the names and full contact details of the authors. Abstracts should be sent to the coordinating team at:

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 15th April 2023. Full papers are due by 30th September 2023. Further details will be discussed with the authors whose abstracts have been accepted. 

This event is part of  of the Continuing Professional Development Programme on Sustainable Development, undertaken by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) and Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP). An official certificate of participation, useful for professional development purposes and to be shown to employers, will be issued to participants, with the equivalent of 20 hours, including attendance to the event and preparation time. The issuing of the Certificate is included in the registration fees.

In order to off-set the preparation costs and the production of the book, we will charge delegates Euro 250 (plus taxes). The fees includes  coffee breaks and lunches on 29th and 30th June 2023. The fees will be used to  pay for the staff time, catering, book proof-reading, lay-out and publication. All authors will get a PDF of their chapters and of the book "Fostering Sustainable Development in Practice".  

Authors whose papers have been accepted, will be invited to register for the event.
