HOOU Online-Course: "The digital introduction of the Sustainabe Development Goals (SDGs) into Higher Education Teaching"

Our project „The digital introduction of the Sustainabe Development Goals (SDGs) into Higher Education Teaching“ , will compile modules that aim at providing materials to integrate SDGs into university teaching. This material will not only focus on the facts, but also foster the development of interdisciplinary knowledge with the use of innovative inter-, trans and multi-disciplinary teaching concepts and didactic methods. This project stimulates the learning environment through texts, images and illustrative material that is created to enable a clearly structured teaching-learning process in the courses. Thus, teachers act as multipliers, informing students from various disciplines about the SDGs and encouraging them to take a closer look at the sustainability goals of the UN. The platform of the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU) not only offers open access to the materials, but also allows for further processing and wider distribution of the materials, thereby providing further access to knowledge about the SDGs.

The goals of the project are as follows:

  • a) gather information about the 17 SDGs and their three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social, environment) and prepare them didactically
  • b) the development, testing and modular availability of information and teaching materials (OER) for initially five UN Sustainable Development Goals so that they can be used in teaching.

The vision of the project is that teachers act as multipliers and inform students from various disciplines about the SDGs, thus encouraging a deeper analysis of the UN's sustainability goals.
