Energy Transition Laboratories

As part of the interconnected system with the wind farm, our research and technical laboratories at the Energie-Campus provide a unique infrastructure that facilitates application-oriented research.

The CC4E’s research and technology laboratories form the practice-oriented core of energy transition research at the HAW Hamburg. At the Energy Campus in Hamburg-Bergedorf, the CC4E works with partners from academia, industry and society to develop solutions for integrated energy systems – solutions that are practical, interdisciplinary and always with a focus on real-world application.

Located at the Schleusengraben in Hamburg Bergedorf is the Technology Centre, where state-of-the-art laboratory and technical facilities provide the framework for experimental research, technological development and systemic analyses. Here, innovative components, digital methods and new concepts for a sustainable energy supply are tested and optimised.

Another laboratory is being established as part of the planned Sector coupling demonstration centre. This site will expand the laboratory repertoire to include large-scale, interconnected infrastructures in which real-world applications of sector coupling – for example, between electricity, heating, mobility and hydrogen – can be tested and further developed in an integrated setting. This will create a unique experimental and demonstration facility for integrated energy systems.
