When agreeing upon a final thesis or a project paper, the student and the first examiner will determine whether the company wishes to restrict publication of the thesis/paper topic or implement another form of confidentiality agreement. 

Students can obtain further information on this topic from their first examiner.

If the person you would like to select as your second examiner is external to HAW Hamburg, you will need to submit an application for an external second examiner before registering your thesis.

Please note: When you submit your application for an external second examiner to the Examination Office, you need to submit the original document with ALL of the original signatures. Complete the application form and have it signed by both the external second examiner and the first examiner for their information and signature.

Please submit the signed original hard copy to the Examination Office with the documents listed on the application form (a copy of the examiner's highest academic qualification as well as a CV).

These supporting documents are not required if this person has served as an examiner at the faculty during the last five years and the documents are still on file at the Examination Office.

If you have an important reason (which you will need to prove), you can request an extension of the time allocated to complete your thesis. You may do so up until two weeks before the original submission date.
