Renewable Energy Hamburg (REH)

Northern Germany plays a central role in the expansion and development of sustainable electricity generation and transmission. The Hamburg metropolitan region serves as the hub for industrial innovation in this field. A key focal point of this collaboration is the Cluster Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster (REH).

The CC4E has maintained a close partnership with the cluster for many years – supported by joint large-scale projects such as the North German Real-World Laboratory (NRL) and its predecessor, NEW 4.0. What unites us is our commitment to advancing technologies, business models and policy frameworks for a climate-neutral energy system on a real-world scale.

Another example of close strategic cooperation is the solar potential study for Hamburg. Commissioned by the Cluster, it now serves as the foundation for the city’s solar strategy. In collaboration with the TUHH, the CC4E has contributed its scientific expertise to the assessment of urban solar expansion, thereby providing a scientifically sound basis for decision-making for a city that is actively and proactively shaping its energy future.
