Our partnerships and services

Research partnerships in the Hamburg metropolitan area strengthen the region’s position as a hub for innovation and contribute to sustainable and independent security of supply.

As a partner for businesses, public authorities, associations and other research institutions, the CC4E brings together the right experts to tackle a wide range of issues. The aim is always to advance the energy transition and strengthen the Hamburg metropolitan region as a hub for innovation.

In particular, with the research infrastructure at the Energie-Campus, the CC4E aims to encourage companies in the renewable energy sector to set up operations there and to support their research projects. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular can benefit from potential collaborations and the associated research and development capabilities. The same applies to start-ups and new businesses, which are to be supported through collaborative projects.

At the same time, the CC4E fosters close links between research, industry and policy: for example, through the Cluster for Renewable Energy Hamburg (REH), the inter-university Energy Research Network Hamburg (EFH), or through joint projects with the Fraunhofer IWES and the Fraunhofer Application Centre ILES.

In addition to larger collaborative projects, CC4E supervises numerous practice-oriented research projects – ranging from student research projects to final-year theses– thereby ensuring a continuous transfer of knowledge to the region.

In addition, CC4E develops its own services for businesses and the energy sector. These include the free Process Heat Consultancy in Hamburg, which has been helping businesses to make their heating processes climate-neutral since 2025. The Heat Competence Team has also released Jarvis, a powerful open-source simulation software for heating networks, which supports energy suppliers, planners and research institutions in the analysis and planning of climate-neutral heating systems.
