The HAW Hamburg is Hamburg’s second-largest university of applied sciences and one of the largest providers of engineering education in northern Germany. In collaboration with the CC4E, the HAW Hamburg is continuously expanding its range of courses in the field of renewable energies, integrating relevant knowledge from research and industry, and thereby promoting the interdisciplinary approach that is increasingly in demand within the sector.

This forward-looking focus area comprises various Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes and trains around 2,000 students.

It is also possible to obtain a PhD at the HAW Hamburg. This can be done either as part of a collaborative PhD programme or through the Research School, which has its own right to award PhDs in selected areas of excellence.

In these research-intensive areas of specialisation, the HAW offers a structured environment for academic development and interdisciplinary research.

The CC4E supports the Sustainable Technologies and Systems (STS) PhD programme through its application-oriented research in the fields of the energy transition, climate protection in industry, sustainable production processes, sustainable mobility and technology assessment. With its research and technical laboratories, methodological expertise and extensive network, the CC4E creates a scientifically sophisticated environment in which doctoral research can be supported in terms of content and developed in greater depth.
