Counselling for personal problems
Studying towards a degree can present you with lots of challenges, and sometimes problems as well, which you might prefer to discuss with an external person who isn't involved. These issues may be study related – such as problems with motivation, learning disorders or (exam) anxiety – or they might have to do with personal conflicts in relationships, your family or your interactions with other students. That's what we're here for. You can come to us with any personal problem.
Thanks to our years of experience counselling students, we are especially familiar with the problems that can arise. Our goal is to help you overcome and resolve the issues and conflicts that are troubling you.
In an initial discussion we clarify what is presenting you with problems and what support you need to resolve the issue in question. There could be follow-up appointments, or we might support you in finding a therapist or a suitable counselling centre to provide longer-term treatment.
Counselling appointments are free of charge for all HAW Hamburg students. All employees are bound by confidentiality agreements, which means that all discussions are absolutely confidential.
