California State University Long Beach

Semester abroad

The cooperation agreement with CSULB is a university-wide contract. This means that semester places are open to many fields of study at HAW Hamburg. The places are announced in November of the preceding year on the HAW goes USA  page. There you will also find all the information you need about the requirements and funding opportunities. The application is submitted online and is coordinated by the student exchange coordinators in the faculties. The application deadline is 6 January.

German-American International Business Workshop

HAW Hamburg and California State University Long Beach (CSULB) began working together more than 25 years ago. The German-American International Business Workshop (GAIW) is held twice a year under the direction of Prof. Dr. Natalia Ribberink, in partnership with CSULB. The venue always alternates between Hamburg in the spring and Long Beach in the fall. Selected students from both universities have the opportunity to learn not only about current topics in economics, but also about cultural issues through direct contact with their international host students during the one-week trips to the respective partner university. For more information about the workshop, please click here.

ISAP scholarship

HAW Hamburg's longstanding and successful cooperation with California State University Long Beach in the United States will be taken to a new level until 2023 through third-party funding from the DAAD's International Study and Education Partnerships (ISAP) programme. In addition to the opportunity to award three scholarships to HAW Hamburg students for their semester at CSULB, the external funding will be instrumental in expanding the partnership with the goal of a dual degree programme. Living in Long Beach and studying at CSULB

Long Beach is located about 30 minutes from Los Angeles and has 470,000 residents. It is home to the second-largest container port in the USA and one of the largest in the world. Long Beach has its own beach, of course, but beaches like Huntington Beach are also ideal places for people who like to surf or just hang out. That's why California State University Long Beach calls itself 'The Beach'. The university is located on a 322-acre campus with a wide variety of sports facilities, an outdoor pool and many places where you can eat very differently. Read the reports of HAW Hamburg students who studied there.
