Department of Information

The Department of Information at HAW Hamburg provides research and teaching in the fields of information and media sciences. The curation, organisation, provision and mediation of media, information, and data as well as the professional, creative and innovative design of digital content and information processes are the main professional focus. Additionally, the digital transformation of the information and media sector plays a centre role in the department’s overall research and teaching efforts.

In an increasingly complex world, the Department of Information teaches how to connect markets, sciences and cultures. 14 professors from the fields of information technology and economics, library management and media research provide their expertise in teaching and hands-on research. For the dissemination of information, students learn techniques of content processing and data storage.

All media professionals are supposed to become communication experts: Students learn how to provide the public with information using multimedia tools. Communication is an interdisciplinary science and thus an important interface for society.
