The HAW Hamburg Student Counselling Office is an information and advising service at HAW Hamburg. As the university's student counsellors, we are your first point of contact for questions about our degree courses and in the event of personal problems or crises that negatively impact your studies.

Our central responsibility is to provide you with information, support and advice before, at the beginning of, during and upon completion of your studies. We support you in your decision-making processes and encourage you to act independently. We also help you to develop strategies for dealing more effectively with issues or problems and to identify potential alternatives or other perspectives. Your individual abilities, skills, values, interests and needs are always at the centre of our actions. Our core values involve treating you with empathy, respect and appreciation and without prejudice.

Our counsellors have university degrees, extensive training as counsellors and several years of professional experience, which enables us to address your concerns with a high level of professionalism. We ensure the quality of our counselling and advising services through regular professional development activities.

Our discussions with you are provided free of charge and are strictly confidential.
