Following the violent death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini in police custody, the situation in Iran continues to escalate and repression of students and academics at numerous Iranian universities has increased. In a statement, the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) has expressed its shock and concern about these events.
HAW Hamburg supports the HRK statement and stands in solidarity with all non-violent protestors in Iran who are resisting efforts to suppress freedom of expression and are standing up for open discourse, as well as all those who are contributing internationally to making this unjustifiable violence and misogyny visible.
