Under the name 'NEW 4.0', Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein have initiated a unique alliance for innovation with over 60 partners from business, academic and politics. Together they are laying the groundwork for meeting the goal of supplying the north with 100 per cent renewable electricity as early as 2035.
Simultaneously, large portions of the heating and transportation sectors are to be supplied with renewable energies in order to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute effectively to climate protection.
The CC4E is the central project manager in the transnational joint project and is responsible for 13 different subprojects, from the simulation of the overall system to acceptance research.
