Libraries play a vital role in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Research and Transfer Centre "Sustainable Development and Climate  Change Management" is a world leader in matters related to sustainability research. It has produced some ground-breaking publications on sustainable development as part of the World Sustainability Series to which over 3.000 authors have contributed to date. Together with the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme  and theEuropean  School of Sustainability Science and Research, the Centre is producing a  new book, to which expressions of interest are now invited.

Libraries play a vital role in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the UN in 2015 to address various social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2030. Libraries contribute to the achievement of these goals in several ways. This includes access to information and knowledge, which are essential for empowering individuals and communities and the provision of resources such as books, print and digital content, as well as "intelligence services" on new publications and developments, assisting academic staff and students in a valuable way.

With the title "Libraries and Sustainable Development: the Contribution of Libraries to Sustainability and the Implementation of the  UN Sustainable Development Goals", this new publication will document and promote experiences from libraries and librarians from around the world, on the action they are currently undertaken, in order to promote sustainable development as a whole, and  the UN  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular, within their organisations. We are interested on practical projects and initiatives being undertaken at libraries across the spectrum of  higher education institutions.

We herewith invite individual researchers and research teams, to contribute to the publication. Expressions of interest to contribute to the book, initially consisting of a 200 words abstract outlining the paper and with the full contact details of the author(s) should be sent to the editorial team at: info (at) iccip (dot) net.

The deadline for abstracts is 30th September 2023. Full papers are due by 10th December 2023. Further details will be shared with the authors whose abstracts have been selected.
