Sustainability Reporting in Higher Education: perspectives from universities and enterprises

Do, 02.02.2023, 10:00 – Fr, 03.02.2023, 17:00 Uhr
University of Turin, Turin, Italy

The levels of engagement on social accountability in both higher education and enterprises are at an all-time high at the moment, and many organisations are struggling to show real results for their ESG commitments. Both, students and business partners are increasingly demanding greater transparency and improved standards, from governance to ESG structures and implementation.

Whereas integrating sustainability reporting across higher education and businesses is an important step, it is unclear how best should this work be undertaken, and which approaches, methods and strategies may yield the highest impact.

It is on the basis to address this perceived need, and to foster a dialogue among colleagues interested at and working in sustainability reporting, that the Symposium  "Sustainability Reporting in Higher Education: perspectives from universities and enterprises" is being organised by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR), the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme and
the UK Consortium for Sustainability Research (UK-CSR).

The Symposium will serve the purpuse of discussing how sustainability reporting may be incorporated in education, in businesses, and in sustainability practice as a whole. It is part of the "Accelerating the Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Series", with events aimed at fostering the implementation of the UN SDGs.

The "Sustainability Reporting in Higher Education: perspectives from universities and enterprises" will be held in Turin, Italy on 2nd-3rd February 2023. It is hosted by the University of Turin, Department of Management. It is primarily aimed at European participants, but delegates from other parts of the world are also welcome to attend it, and use this unique opportunity to document and disseminate their work.

As an output and long-term documentation of the event, selected papers will be published in the book "Sustainability Reporting in Higher Education: perspectives from universities and enterprises", which will follow on the success of the "Encyclopedia of Sustainability  in Higher Education" which is a "living edition" and the "Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals", the world´s largest editorial project on sustainable development ever undertaken.
